Description
High quality art print reproduction of my original wildflower drawing inspired by the wildflowers that grow in Ontario, Canada. The lovely thing about wildflowers is that they also grow in many other areas. To learn more about this beautiful wildflower and view its range map to find out if it grows near you, visit this link to connect to the USDA Plant Database: https://plants.usda.gov/core/profile?symbol=HIMO
All art prints are printed locally in St. Catharines, Ontario on heavy weight, acid-free paper. Two print sizes are available:
SMALL – 8×8″
LARGE – 12×12″
● What makes each print unique…
I personally sign the back side of all prints using black archival ink. This print also features the Latin and common wildflower names which I have handwritten in archival ink on the front side.
● How your order will arrive…
All orders are packaged with love and care. Art prints are sealed inside a plastic sleeve with a card backing and shipped flat in a rigid envelope.
● Framing & display…
This print works well as a stand alone piece but, being part of a series, it also works well alongside my other wildflower drawings.
Please note that this print is sold unframed. I have sized my prints to fit into readily available frames. 12×12″ prints fit beautifully into IKEA’s Ribba frames. I have found great 8×8″ frames at Michaels, but many other affordable framing options are available for this popular square format.
● More information about this wildflower drawing:
Wild rose. A rose that goes by many, many names. I recently spotted some Dog-rose (Rosa canina) growing along the Welland Canal path here in St. Catharines, Ontario. When I looked up Dog-rose it was described as “introduced” to Canada (though there are many Canadian wild rose species which look very similar). Dog-rose is native to Europe, northwest Africa, and Western Asia… but also seems very happy growing right here in St. Catharines. Interesting fact – it’s believed that the name “Rosa canina” arose “out of the belief in classical times that the root was a cure for the bite of a mad dog.” (From Michael Howard’s ‘Traditional Folk Remedies.’) My original drawing of a wild rose (revised slightly here) was based on Hibiscus palustris (swamp rose mallow) from Pennsylvania. It can also be found in Ontario but there seems to be some debate as to whether or not it’s native to our province.
