Turk’s cap lilies – Wildflower Art Print

$21.00$28.00

Description

High quality art print reproduction of my original wildflower drawing inspired by delicate Turk’s cap lilies. The lovely thing about wildflowers is that they also grow in many other areas. To learn more about this beautiful wildflower and view its range map to find out if it grows near you, visit this link to connect to the USDA Plant Database: https://plants.usda.gov/core/profile?symbol=LISU

All art prints are printed locally in St. Catharines, Ontario on heavy weight, acid-free paper. Two print sizes are available:

SMALL – 8×8″
LARGE – 12×12″

● What makes each print unique…

I personally sign the back side of all prints using black archival ink. This print also features the common wildflower name which I have handwritten in archival ink on the front side.

● How your order will arrive…

All orders are packaged with love and care. Art prints are sealed inside a plastic sleeve with a card backing and shipped flat in a rigid envelope.

● Framing & display…

This print works well as a stand alone piece but, being part of a series, it also works well alongside my other wildflower drawings.

Please note that this print is sold unframed. I have sized my prints to fit into readily available frames. Many affordable framing options are available for this popular square format.

● More information about this wildflower drawing:

Wildflower range maps are an interesting thing. Wildflower spotting relies so much on personal anecdotes. And sometimes wildflowers are intentionally planted in gardens by admirers who introduce flowers to areas where they might not usually grow (and then birds and other pollinators go to work spreading them near and far). Though Turk’s-cap lilies don’t appear on all of the Ontario wildflower databases I typically reference, I did stumble across multiple personal posts from people who had spotted and posted photos of them in cities as nearby as Oakville, Ontario. ⁣

For me this wildflower drawing project is about embracing mistakes and imperfections. Wildflowers make mistakes all the time. Sometimes a well-intentioned lily ends up in a city where it’s not “supposed” to be and ends up being called a weed because it’s not welcome there. Even the definition of what a wildflower is seems to vary… wildly. I personally like the broad definition of “any plant found growing in wild places.” Definitions like that let even the friendly dandelion hang out in the “wildflower” category for a while. 💗
